About the Course
Develop solo acting skills with guidance from professionals and peers.
In this session, professional actor CJ Norris will guide students in exploring dramatic and comedic monologues (short solo acting pieces). Each participant will have the opportunity to choose from a curated collection of pieces covering a range of themes and characters.
You'll explore:
Breaking down text
Creating a character profile
The actor's innate tools: the body, voice, and imagination
The actor's objectives, including empathy and believability
Vocal and physical rhythm
Taking direction
Conquering nerves
...and more!
During the workshop, students will form smaller groups to support each other in discussions analyzing their monologue and offering peer feedback. At the end of the session, students will have the opportunity to present their works-in-progress to the full group.
Participants can expect to come out with practical tools and confidence to apply in future acting scenarios, as well as experience.
